| Testing and researching some stats mechanics. Try to match your character's abilities using the following: Version 1.0 - Spoiler:
Divide 180 Points Into the Following: (Version 1.0)
Strength: Speed: Dexterity:
Intelligence: Wisdom: Perception:
Endurance: Will: Energy/Vitality:
Version 2.5 Spend 135 in the following to detail your character:Strength: Speed: Dexterity: Intelligence: Wisdom: Perception: Endurance: Will: Energy/Vitality: Spend 90 in the following to detail the powers of your character:
Strength Endurance Energy/Vitality Speed Dexterity Intelligence Perception Will Energy Projection NotesFeel free to make suggestions of stats to add, and comment on how well it actually represents your character, why or why not, etc. Notes on your race/species and power would help too. Guide:- Spoiler:
A value of 0 means just that. You can't do shit.
Normal/Average human values would be 10 in each category. (Total 90)
An above average (like a meta-human as most of us will be) Human would be 1.5 that, 15 in each category. (Total 135)
Strength, Speed, and Dexterity should be self explanatory.
Intelligence is knowledge, smarts, ability to process complex ideas, large numbers, and facts. Wisdom is common sense, spirituality, the ability to think on one's feet. Perception is the ability to keep track of one's surroundings, to notice subtle changes, important clues, etc.
Endurance is the ability to withstand punishment, resist damage and fatigue. Will is mental resistance and strength. Energy is the ability to do work, such as physical acts; walking, talking, jumping.
In the Powers section of version 2.0, Energy Projection is the use of energy, creating fire, blasting beams of light, telekinesis, creating shields and constructs, etc.
For the power section, stat out the points in a way to show how the power affects the character's abilities. For instance super strength might contribute to a character's strength a lot, so adding like 50 points there would affect the character's strength a great deal. For instance if the character's strength was normally 20, adding the points from the power section, 50, would make the character's strength 70 when using his super strength power.
(Possible) Benchmarks- Spoiler:
Since 10 is "average" and 20 is "peak", here are some things to help people imagine where their characters stand on your scale.
10 Strength: Able to bench own weight (?) 20 Strength: Able to bench ~1000 pounds/squat ~1200 pounds (Mariusz Pudzianowski) He weighs ~271 lbs.
10 Speed: Able to sprint at ~14 MPH (Avg walking speed is 3 - 4 MPH) 20 Speed: Able to sprint at ~23 MPH (Usain Bolt's Record)
10 Dexterity: You, right now probably 20 Dexterity: Olympic level gymnast, dancer, ice dancer or ninja. Alternatively, Batman.
10 Intelligence: IQ of 100, Literate, High School graduate and no college degree 20 Intelligence: IQ of 250 or so. (William James Sidis) I don't even know.
10 Wisdom: Hopefully you 20 Wisdom: Studying to be a philosopher
10 Endurance: You probably. Hard to say. 20 Endurance: Able to walk/run non-stop for 300 miles, etc
0 or 5 Will: Clinically Depressed 10 Will: Able to achieve a relatively simple task, like finding the will to go to work or something 20 Will: Worthy enough to become a Green Lantern or someone like Cap Am who is perfect in every way Above: Telepaths, Trained Lantern Corps members, etc
10 Perception: Able to see the hidden meanings in some high school level book or something 20 Perception: Batman level detective work, Daredevil level Daredevilness Above: Toph from A:TLA when grounded, etc
Calculator- Spoiler:
Spreadsheet
You can use this spread out your stats easily. There are multiple sheets in case multiple people are using it at once. Clear all your changes when you're done.
If you want to copy and paste your results in a neat little table to post here then: 1. Select the data range. 2. Click on the clipboard icon up top, fourth from the left. 3. Click "Copy Cell Range" 4. Click File, New, Document 5. Select the clipboard icon once again. 6. Select the range you copied. (If multiple people have used it there will be multiple ranges copied, try to "Clear all items" if no one else is using it.) 7. Copy that table. 8. Return to the forum and click that last icon in the post options "Switch Editor Mode" 9. Paste!
10. You're done, but click that icon (A/A) to return to the normal post editing mode.Spreadsheet

| What does perception mean? I don't see an option for including powers like "Fire Manipulation" or "Laser Emission", unless it falls under Strength or something. | |

| Hey, just have some questions.
What is the base human average? How much stronger is something like five or ten points? Also, how is 'Energy/Vitality' different from 'Endurance'? Those seem redundant. Also, how high is a stat before it becomes "beyond human"?

| If you start of with 10 speed you can decrease it to 5 if you wanted to and have more points to move around
same deal for 0 points but then you'd go into the negatives

Don't think in terms of powers, think in terms of character, such as how a power affects a character's abilities, or what abilities a character needs to be able to use a certain power.

I guess that's pretty accurate actually. Though I suppose his speed would change once (if) he gains the ability to walk.

| Something that I thought up when I ready Signal's stats: Should there be accommodations for male and female characters? An average or peak male human is stronger than an average or peak female but that is lost when everything boils down to numbers.
You could give male characters extra points to spend in the first group of stats and females more stats to put in the third.

| As you notice in the above post, the stats for powers are similar to the ones for the character. The intention there is that powers would affect the abilities of the character in some way or another. Let's say that a character normally has a certain level of speed. (Character Speed: 20). If the person gains super speed, and puts, let's say 70 of those points into the speed stat (Power Speed: 70), then when the person uses their super speed to run then they would be working with a combined total of 90. Let's say the character has...fire powers. That would fit under energy projection, so let's say that value is 50 (Power Energy Projection: 50) and the character has 10 strength (Character Strength: 10). If the character decided to use Fire Punch they would be working with a value of (60) as far as the power of the attack goes. Just went with the male stats for everyone so I wouldn't be a misogynistic feminazi. We can get back to that when race differences come up. Do you think it would it be plausible to predetermine some additional points based on race for a few races? I don't imagine races would vary much or often. | |

The idea with the power stats here was that a double jumper would most likely have more powerful legs, which is true (sorta) in this case. Meaning anything using his legs would add more strength to it than he is normally capable, running using his power would have more power and thus speed behind it, and having springy powerful legs would mean more energy behind his movement.
