The Town of Paranasia

Paranasia, a normal, grey town, located in the north of France, nothing interesting, and people appreciate it just for that.
Lately, the towns been quieter than usual, there has been a surprisingly high amount of people disappearing lately, and strange groups on the internet have been popping up lately, the town has an eerie shadow lurking over it. But what is it? Who?
No-one knows whats up with the place, but the locals almost act if they don't want you to know. But hey.
Welcome to Paranasia.

A worn-down but well-cared-for winnebago rolls into town. It parks at a diner and a girl steps out wearing a knapsack over her shoulder. She lifts the goggles from her face and onto her head, taking good note of the surroundings. The town was... quiet. But for her, it was a good thing. Calms the nerves, even. Lucy enters the diner and sits herself at the bar. "Morning," she tells the workers in general.

A tall figure approaches a diner, his face hidden by a black hood over his head. He enters, and takes a seat, and begins speaking to an employee.
"Hello, Adele, the signs are coming up, and I require a few, materials, would you mind having a private chat?"
The employee nods, and then sighs, "Yes yes, just come through the back here."
The hooded man steps up and follows the woman, his eyes scanning the room.

Sitting in a diner. he's hit a dead end in his investigation into the missing people. "who could be doing this" he thinks to himself. he waits for a lead. not noticing the man who just went in

Lucy keeps an eye on the man going into the back, not saying a word and noting all the negative energy emanating from him. A waitress passes asking if the new lass wants anything; Lucy replies with a bowl of whatever is there best soup, some bread, and some coffee. The waitress writes down the order and goes to the cook's window to hang it up on a wire.

Lucy also takes note of the other guy sitting elsewhere in the diner. He... doesn't seem as bad as the first guy, but there was still something off about him. She shrugs and waits for her order to arrive.

The back room was compact and secure, and, at a pull of a lever, a staircase opened to a basement.
"So what do you need?" the woman asked.
Walking down the staircase, he replied "Basic weaponry, food, and more tome's."
The woman nodded, and as they reached the end of the staircase they entered a hallway, it was lit by torches and entirely made out of stone.
"By the way" the man said.
"Would you mind if I performed a sacrifice here? There are defilers upstairs, I can tell, they might actually try and come down here."
The woman nodded, and they both began heading further down the hallway.

That man was gone for an awfully long time. But her food finally arrived and Lucy thanked the waitress. It had been a day or two since she had a full meal like this and began scarfing down her food. A few of the patrons watched her in horror or amusement (it was hard to tell sometimes) but most kept to their own business.

Done with her soup alongside most of the bread and all of the coffee in the mug, she wiped the mess off her face and paid the restaurant for their delicious food, taking the last bread in hand. She stepped out of the restaurant and quickly floated to the roof of the building, kneeling and waiting for the strange man and his weird thoughts to resurface. If he tried anything funny... ooh, he was gonna get it bad.

At the same time, something struck a nerve in her; her gut told her 'Leave this place, run like HELL, this town reeks of bad juju'. Lucy ignored it, knowing full well that bad things happen when she ignores her gut. There was the other guy, though, and he wasn't as bad... right?

Noticing the flying girl he quietly step out of the diner and calls to her. she may or may not be a lead but at least she's interesting .
"Hey, flying gal! care to chat?" he calls up to her.

"Yeah, sure!" Signal stepped to the edge and jumped, catching herself with telekinesis as she was about to land.

In a more quite voice: "So what is it you're here for? Bad mojo about the town, too?"

"disappearances actually. people have been vanishing. I'm starting to suspect kidnapping but who know "

he shrugs and leans against the wall

"you know anything about it?"

"Actually," Lucy says, scratching her head and her feet now firmly on the ground, "this is the first time I've heard of it. But now that I know..." She looks around her; the town is terribly quiet for one of its size. "You'd think, with that kind of dilemma, there'd be more police on the streets. I mean, it makes it easier for me since I won't get shot at or anything, but... it's worrying."

"could be cult activity, or just the town covering it up" he thinks rubbing his chin "we should probably search around see if someone willing to spill "

*Phoenix by the way" he offers his hand

Lucy shakes Phoenix's hand. "Signal. Nice to meet you. Also, we should probably avoid the diner or leave it last. In case anyone's packing heat. Maybe start at the edge of town (mostly so I can run just in case) if we're gonna start sleuthing around. Need a ride?" She points to the worn winnebago parked amongst the regular cars.

"...do you have a bad feeling about the diner? what are your powers any thing extra sensory?" he stops leaning against the wall looks kinda ready for action.

"Nah, nothing extrasensory... per se. I just have a bad gut feeling about this place due to the guy in the robes that just stepped into a door behind the counter. The further I'm from him, the better I feel, actually. I can explain in the car." She walks towards her winnebago, taking out her car keys and looking at the inside of the diner. If the man did come out packing heat, he really will be in for a nasty surprise. But the innocents inside... that's a problem.

"yeah alright" he gets in the Winnebago "alright you'll lead this one"

"Sure, sure." Signal gets the winnebago going and heads out to near the edge of the town.

"My powers are simple: I absorb psychic energy, usually from thought waves or such, and I convert that into energy or attacks. So it can be something simple like an explosive punch or something much more... deadly." A pause, and then: "There's a reason I wear the sign for radioactivity."

The winnebago stops at a house far from the diner. The lawn has been overrun with weeds and the pavement is cracked somewhat. The house itself has seen better days. "This looks like a good place to start, how about you?"

"quite a little powerhouse you are, well if you are ever in danger feel free to hide behind me... I can take it"

he gets out of the car and walks up to the house and waits for her to join him keeping a eye out for anything suspicious

He can... take it? Maybe he has power shields? Signal ponders over what this means as she parks the car and gets out.

She knocks on the door, waits a few seconds, then knocks a second time. "Wonder if anyone actually lives here..."

"well one way to find out " he goes and knocks on the door

You do not instantly say "huh must be cult activity" after finding out the town is weird.
A normal person would just say "Huh, this town is weird lets investigate."

it's a explanation why this would be. right now its just a theory and far from what he believes given no evidence for anything yet

The lights of the train station cut blisters in to the sleep crusted eye's of an old man, disembarking from the train, and what looks to be a comfortless journey. The scent of pepper permeates the mans beard and hair, the remnants of a career in the Tunisian spice trade embedded on his form. The heels of his leather boots beat echoes into the concrete floor of the station as he walks towards the stairs promising to deliver him from the earth. The moon is bright when he reaches the top, and the night is quiet; a cold breeze slices through the seams in his coat, coaxing a shiver out of his gnarled frame.

"Much different from home this place, but it has people, and people are the same everywhere."

The moon sparks in the two glass orbs set deep in the mans leather face as he pulls up his collar and buries his hands in the pockets of his coat, groping for warmth. He sets off, not to any place in particular, not to nowhere, or anywhere, but everywhere.

"But first, a meal."

A taxi cab pulled to a stop on the town's vacant boulevard. A young woman emerged from the vehicle, an unlit cigarette hanged from her mouth as she shuffled through her wallet. The woman paid the driver, gave him a little extra for his trouble; he was the only driver willing to make the venture and it was rather late. He gave the lady a nod and quickly drove off.

The woman took out a small lighter, giving it a few flicks before lighting up. She took a quick look around. The town was quiet; very quiet. Not like what she's used to back home. She hardly went on retrieval errands, but hey, the client had a good counter offer. In addition, it was only a book. It shouldn't be hard anyways.

But first, she was in serious need of a drink.
