Lake Huron: Orchid Island

"Are you kidding me? And then what? Get taken apart in some lab? Buried in some landfill? I ain't going down like that, little man." He said firmly. Rod wanted the suit, and was considering taking it and tossing this short alcoholic out on his little ass, but he was trying to keep his anger under control. He'd noticed that being bombarded down to your bones with radiation gave you a temper problem.

The small figure remained motionless as the other started to grow a bit of an attitude. It seemed like he knew what he was doing, so that might have been intentional. That or he was just drunk. He lifted his fingers then snapped. Well. He removed his glove then tried again, this time more successful. He attempted to bring the walking night light to his senses. Did he notice that he wasn't so far affected by his radioactive aura? And that the little person seemed to know a lot more about him than anyone else did? If he wanted the fally green giant captured, he probably would have done so already.

"It's simple...you put on this suit, which you'll get to keep, then I drop you off at the police station all nice and tied up. My associate takes the credit, and that's all I need. Once that is over...well...let's just say that these prisons are not equipped to hold you. An incompetent guard screws up the holding instructions and you blast your way out. How does that sound?" He asked, his Arabic accent becoming more apparent the more he talked.

Rod looked the suit over, and then eyed the strange, possibly Arabian man. He hadn't spoken to anyone, really. Met anyone. At least, anyone that hadn't ended up being killed or dosed with lethal levels of radiation. Yet here was someone that knew about him. What he was. Capable of standing within arm's reach of him without vomiting and passing out, or dropping dead. And the suit. It was too good to be true.

And frankly, he's right...they don't have the means of keeping me contained in some prison cell. I could easily melt the bars, cook the guards, stroll right out. He thought to himself. But then what? What would he do? Find yet some other hole to hide away in? Spend his nights hunting down the people that were responsible for his condition, burning them alive, and then returning to a little pit like some rodent? No. He needed more than that. And he felt compelled to pay his respects to whoever pulled the strings to make this suit possible for him. That was just the kind of guy he was. Good or bad, he always paid back what was due, and he owed this stranger's "associate" big time.

"Alright. I'm in. But what comes after I break out? When do I get to meet your friend?"

The figure tilted his head as he watched the other man, obviously trying to figure him out.

"You will be contacted again after you break out... Try not to kill anyone though..." He said before turning around, starting to head off of the premises, keeping to the shadows to avoid any cameras as he did on the way here.

"You'll see him soon enough. And once this job is complete we'll probably be able to help you even more. So keep that in mind. I'll be back tomorrow at noon and we'll take a little trip...be ready."

Rod watched the man go, pondering. Try not to kill anyone? That he could likely manage, especially with this suit. This was too good to be true. He couldn't help but dream at the possibilities implied by the little man's mentioning "we'll probably be able to help you even more."

Closing the door to the storage unit after the stranger left, Rod realized he never even got his name. But that was fine. He'd get it tomorrow, when he returned. Donning the suit, not noticing a small bit of sharpied-writing on the back, he got comfortable in it, looking himself over.

"Like a glove." He said with a grin, dropping back onto the mattress to kick back, relax, and wait for the following day's festivities. Things were looking bright.

The next day, precisely at noon, Rod would find himself being greeted with a loud explosion outside of his storage facility home. It appears that some sort of grenade went off just outside of his door.


Vault remained in his office at the police station, avoiding the chief for now so he could get some work done and show up with his little surprise later on.

Rod jumped up, startled out of a...deep sleep? That wasn't right. It wasn't exactly sleeping that he did. More like a...relaxed state of some kind. It was difficult for him to sleep, given that he was constantly burning. It was more like a rested...haze. In any case, something was obviously going down outside. Something explosive.

Getting to his feet he sauntered over to the door and opened it up to face whatever was awaiting him.

As soon as he opened the door a small figure launched through it, flipping over his head to grab and twist at the head piece of the suit to pull it off while leaping behind the glowing headed man. The figure's hand darted into his coat to retrieve a gun, firing a few warning shots...directly at his head. They were normal bullets so...they should be arning shots.

"Hey, what's the big i-" was all Control Rod managed to get out before whoever was assailing him was twisting the head of the suit right off. Spinning with the attacker, but not managing to prevent him from getting away with the helmet, Control Rod raised both hands to fire a burst of radiation at the intruder. But then he hesitated. Wait, is this suit meant to work with my powers? What happens if I try and let loose a blast while I'm wearing it, will I destroy the suit or- and then he was being shot in the face, and head, the painful, migraine-inducing flashes rippling over his face.

"What the FUCK man?!"

"Just making it look good..." He said, hand darting beneath the helmet of the suit, darting into his jacket, darting to his holster to grab his other gun with his free hand.

"Criminal..." He said, out of context probably unless one had been a part of the secret conversation last night, and lifted this new gun up to fire another bullet, a single one this time, aimed just to the side of his face, aimed so that it would only graze his face in the slightest, as this one consisted of a more expensive, radiation and heat resistant bullet. It had to at least hurt him to have his radioactive aura dispersed, right?

The suit did block his radiation a good deal, and he would probably have to take the gloves off to disperse any sort of energy. This was mach 1. The suit built with limited resources. The point that this entire fiasco would demonstrate. Capturing these high powered freaks was entirely possible, you just had to put the right minds and the right resources to it.

Snarling in pain and frustration as he felt something more than irritation at this last shot, Control rod began removing the gloves to the suit. Whoever this guy is, whether he works with or for the guy who set me up with the suit last night, he's bit off more than he can chew. "Right, then, let's make it look GOOD." The stinging where the last bullet had grazed him hadn't gone away yet, but it only served to make Control Rod angry. And that anger made him stronger, gave him more heat to cook with. Hands glowing with radioactive energy, he fired off a bolt aimed at the gunman's middle.

The short figure hopped up like a flighty little cockroach and jumped over the bolt. He landed right back where he was standing before tossing the head piece back at the glowing man's face, ducking down just as it covered his eyesight, enough to hide his small body, before quickly darting between his legs if there was enough room, or around them to dart outside of the door.

Control Rod prepared another bolt, but before he could send it at the hasty creature, there was a helmet flying at his face. The projectile connected, sending the radioactive man stumbling backwards, still unaware of who exactly his attacker was. Everything was going too fast. He threw the bolt wildly, without aiming, blowing a hole in the wall without even coming close to hitting the bastard. It took him a moment to realize where he had run to, but there wasn't really much of anywhere to hide in the storage unit. Chasing his opponent outside, Control Rod readied another bolt.

The sudden random bolt did make him hop from the ground a bit, his head turning to where it hit before looking back to the green man group solo.

"Watch where you point that thing..." He said before lifting up a gun in his hand. Which one was it? The normal bullets, or the modified ones? He aimed square in the center of the other's head, taking his time before taking a few shots.
They turned out to be normal bullets this time. The other kind were expensive after all...

Control Rod stopped cold, wondering himself. Would the other bullets, the special ones, kill him with a direct hit to the head? He was practically transparent and couldn't see any organs in his body, so would a shot from that do the trick? Was he about to find out? But then the gun went off, and it was just more flashes of pain. Regular bullets. He fired off the bolt in his hand, but it went wild yet again, sailing off into the open. He was too distracted to care, but that might ruin someone's day.

The bolt caused him to flinch in anticipation once again, ducking down a bit just to make sure it didn't hit him. It seemed that being near radioactive man didn't harm him, but he didn't want to get by one of those bolts after all. He jumped back from him, pulling out his other gun and spinning them around a bit, hands switching around quickly to make sure Rod didn't know which gun he was using. He was leaping closer toward the edge of the complex as he kept his eyes on the taller man.

"Watch it...you're really going to hurt someone with those." He said, showing some concern for his fellow man, even as he aimed a gun at his target's head. The man was too lazy to dodge a bullet it seemed... Or just plain too slow. I guess not everyone had the training and speed to move at the sight of a trigger being pulled.

He would give the other the chance this time. He lifted one gun and shot at his head again. A normal bullet.
He then lifted the other hand with the other gun, slowly aiming it at his head as he slid the other gun back into his jacket. He took aim and slowly began to pull the trigger just in sight of the other's eyes... Suddenly the other hand, the one in his coat darted out, tossing another grenade at the feet of the glowing guy. Right after, quickly moving along through his plan, he darted his hand back into his coat to retrieve his other gun after let going of the grenade, firing a few more normal bullets at his head.

The grenade at his feet didn't explode, instead it released a knock out gas. At the very least, even if it didn't affect him, the little man in the coat would have more information on this subject. If it didn't work, as he sorta expected it not to, he still seemed to be leading the man somewhere... His little feet slowly inched him back towards the side of a wall at the units near the edge of the complex, standing with the wall at his side.

Control Rod hesitated before firing off the next bolt. He was getting pretty careless. In truth, he didn't want to kill anybody. The cops at the park, that was one thing. He felt some guilt over it, too. His opponent was shorter than him, so for the time being he'd angle the shots downward. The ones that missed, which would probably be most if not all, being that the little bastard was extremely agile, would impact with the ground. It'd be easier to hit him with the small explosions that resulted when they hit, rather than hit with the bolts or rays themselves.

As the gunman went to fire again, Rod attempted to dodge. He'd never been in a fight before, not like this one. Well, there were the cops at the park. He'd been fortunate enough to discover the bullets didn't kill him. They still hurt, and whatever his attacker now was packing in one of the guns could potentially do him in, so Control Rod switched tactics. Trying to be a little more agile, make himself a harder target. He got lucky with a few, but his head still flashed where one or two rounds connected.

In the confusion he didn't have the time to process the grenade or what it meant, and practically walked right into it when it went off, spraying him in a cloud of gas. Instinctively he shielded himself, but it seemed to have no effect on him. Charging through the gas, the aura of radiation emanating from him burning even hotter as he grew angrier, Control Rod swung at the man with his fist.

The short figure watched the cloud of gas, slowly inching away from it and towards the corner of the storage unit at his side. His head lifted quickly as the glowing monster charged out of the cloud and towards him. All the data on him checked out. He could only hope, however, that the data on how tough this man was was accurate, or perhaps that he exceeded it... He didn't want to end up hurting him. Especially with his next set of tactics.

As Rod charged at him, ready to strike, the short figure hopped beyond the building he had been standing next to, quickly lifting his gun to fire off to the side. As his target would reach the corner of the building, he would find a previously tensely restrained, flat bar of metal flinging and flopping back out straight, just where the glowing creature's head was with enough force to probably put a dent into concrete.

Hopefully it wouldn't take his head off. Off to the side a car was running outside of the storage facility, waiting for a hopefully live transport.

Control Rod misjudged, and the punch didn't even come close to connecting. He continued with the momentum however, charging after the man. He readied a radiation blast in each hand, intending to destroy the building the little man had just put between them once he rounded the corner. A concentrated, sweeping arc of destruction that hopefully would put an end to this more than irritating bout of theirs.

Unfortunately, when he hit the corner and prepared to let loose, he caught a glimpse of a large metal bar snapping towards his face at speeds he couldn't begin to guess. This was shortly before catching it with his face. There was a sickening CRACK as the dumbfounded Control Rod kissed metal, flying backwards several feet and landing on his back roughly.

You could say he was out cold, if he wasn't still burning dimly.

The short figure flinched at the sound, looking away for less than a second before looking back over towards his target. Slowly he moved over towards him, tilting his head as he looked down at him to make sure he was out. So he could be knocked out...good. That would save a whole lot of trouble. Slowly he slid the head piece back onto him, along with the gloves before fastening him down with a pair of heavily reinforced handcuffs and shackles. He reached down to pick him up. NOPE. In that suit he was far too heavy. Instead he headed back to his vehicle and drove it over before using a bit of rope and leverage to get him into the trunk.

Moments later he arrived at the police station, parking outside after placing a call to Vault.

Vault hung up the phone and rolled away from his desk, making his way to the front door, opening it to look down the steps to the street below where the trunk to the car was opened.

"Ah...my delivery has arrived. Would someone mind bringing that in for me?" He asked, looking back to the rest of the force in the office. "And tell the chief to get out here, he'll probably want to see this. And do be careful with him, one little mistake could put us all in danger..." The short figure having completed his mission was gone for now, leaving only the suited up man in the trunk.

As a few officers made their way down to pull the body out of the trunk, Vault rolled back and turned, looking towards the chief's office. Was he not there? Hm. Doesn't matter, a report will do. He looked back to notice one of the officers starting to pull the helmet off of the radioactive man.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you...unless you really want to try out the bald look..." Vault said, the officer looking over in his direction before leaving it alone. They dragged the unconscious man inside and took him to a cell. Vault followed after them, giving them instructions.

"Leave the suit on at all times, do not allow him near anything sharp, keep his hands bound and his helmet fastened at all times..." He continued on with further instructions on how to keep the man secured. Once he was through he headed back to his desk.

The officers placed the man in a cell and shut it, keeping a guard posted near it to make sure the man secured in the suit and cell did not escape.

Stirring from his rather deep 'sleep,' Rod groaned and moved his arms, finding quickly that his hands had been bound. "Oh...right." He sighed and got in to a seated position, rolling his head and shoulders. His neck hurt. His face hurt. To be expected, really. Lucky I'm not dead, really. Though he was having a hard time deciding whether or not he really was lucky at all. He looked to the cell door, and the guard. "Hey, I want my phone call."

The officer was looking elsewhere at the moment when Rod began to talk, his head turning to face the weirdo's cell. The big yellow suit didn't do much to make the man seem less frightening, but it did do wanders for keeping the people near him alive...

"Uh..." The officer thought, eyes wandering from here to there as he thought about it. He didn't really have to give him a call, but it was probably best that he did to keep him from making a commotion.

"Fine..." He said, slowly heading off for a while. He returned pushing a small cart with a phone ontop of it. The way the radioactive man's hands were bound so he couldn't really pick it up himself. The officer lifted it for him and held it through the bars for him.

"Number?" He asked, wondering who he could possibly call, and who would possibly understand or want to listen to that voice through the suit, and if the guy could even hear much inside of there. It turns out that the higher ups were interested in these things too, as the call was recorded and traced.

Rod looked at the man, then the phone, then back. "Oh, c'mon. Are you really going to stand there and hold the phone to my head? Just get my hands free. I don't have a weapon." He held up his hands. He didn't really believe that the guard would be dumb enough to undo his bonds, but he was hoping that maybe the guy just wasn't competent or informed enough to know that it was a simple matter for Control Rod to slip off the gloves.

Of course, that didn't mean that he was helpless. He was fairly confident that he could burn hot enough to just burn this suit right off of himself and escape that way, but, well, he really didn't want to lose the suit. He wasn't completely sure he'd be able to replace it anytime soon.

"I can't take those off of you." He said, sounding like he was starting to lose his patience.

"Now what's the number? If this doesn't happen quickly we can just stop this all together." He said, looking down to the keypad while holding the phone up to him, his hand through the bars as he awaited the number.

Honestly, his gloves originally could be slipped off easily, which was why his hands had to be taped up and tied closely together along with the cuffs. But if he managed to get something between his arms and then hands, it would probably be easy to tug them off. Unfortunately there was nothing provided in the cell with which he could accomplish that.
